Free SEO Tool

Disavow File Generator (Free).

Generate a properly formatted disavow.txt file for Google Search Console. Disavow spammy or low-quality backlinks at the domain or URL level.

Choose disavow mode

Domain-level disavow ignores ALL links from the listed domains. URL-level ignores only the specific URLs. Google recommends domain-level for most cases.

Paste your list

Paste your list of domains or URLs, one per line. Comments start with #.

⚠️ Use disavow with caution
Disavow files are a last-resort SEO tool. Only use them if you have spammy or unnatural backlinks pointing to your site that you can't get removed any other way. A poorly used disavow file can hurt your rankings. When in doubt, leave it alone — or ask an SEO professional.
How to use

From bad backlinks to clean profile.

1

Identify bad backlinks

Use Search Console's Links report or a tool like Ahrefs/SEMrush to find toxic, spammy or unnatural links.

2

Paste the list

Paste the domains or URLs you want to disavow into the input box. One per line. Comments are fine.

3

Generate the file

Hit generate — we'll format it properly with comments, deduplicate entries and clean up protocols.

4

Submit to Google

Upload to Search Console's Disavow Links tool. Google will start ignoring those links over the next few weeks.

Questions

Common questions about disavow files.

What is a disavow file? +
A disavow file is a plain text file you upload to Google Search Console listing backlinks (domains or URLs) you want Google to ignore when assessing your site. It's used to neutralise the impact of spammy or unnatural backlinks that you can't get removed manually.
Should I disavow links? +
For most sites, no. Google's algorithms have got much better at automatically ignoring obvious spam. Disavow is appropriate if you've been hit by a manual action over unnatural links, or if you genuinely have a large pattern of toxic links you can't remove. Otherwise leave it alone — a poorly used disavow can do more harm than good.
What's the difference between domain-level and URL-level? +
Domain-level (prefix domain:) tells Google to ignore every link from that entire domain, now and in the future. URL-level only ignores the specific URLs you list. Domain-level is recommended for most cases — spammy sites often have thousands of URLs and trying to list each one is impractical.
How long until Google processes the disavow file? +
Google starts processing the file as soon as you upload it, but the effect on your rankings is gradual — typically weeks to months. The change happens as Google recrawls each disavowed page and re-evaluates the link signals. There's no instant fix.
Can I undo a disavow? +
Yes. You can replace your disavow file at any time or remove it entirely from Search Console. If you remove entries, Google will reconsider those links — though again, the effect is gradual as pages are recrawled.
